This is part five of the FBI's UFO file, a set of Bureau memoranda and reports from 1947 to 1949. Most of it covers the FBI's inquiry into the Maury Island flying disc story in Tacoma, which concluded that the disc fragments were ordinary rock formations and that the story was a hoax. It also examines the fatal crash of a B-25 at Kelso and finds no sign of sabotage. The file includes other items: the Rhodes disc photographs, a proposed flying saucer convention in Alexandria, Louisiana, and ash from a fire near Scranton that someone suggested came from a flying saucer.

Intelligence Hamilton Field, California Title Investigation of Flying Disc Investigation made at Taoons and Kelso, Washington REASON FOR INVESTIGATION: Investigation initiated at the request of Air Defense Command, reference 1tr Eq ADC, etd 7 Jul 67, file D833.51D, subj: Investigation of Flying Plane. ## CYROPSIS On 31 July 47, of the Idaho Daily Statesman, telephoned Lt. Brown requesting he return to Incom because he believed he had some very vital information on the flying disc. Lt. Brown and Capt. Davidson interviewed a along with of the United Air Lines, and Drop Hotel in Echoa, Washington, on the night of 31 July 1947. The summary of their interrogation and findings was related to Major Sender. Public Information Officer, HeChord Field, by Smith. Major Sender retold the results of the investigation to this officer from his notes. were not available for interview while this officer was in that area, although every effort was made to contact them. Further investigation of this particular incident was left with Mr. Brady, Resident Agent, FBI, Tacoma, Washington. It was apparent from newspaper clippings, telephone calls to this officer, and conversations with Major Sander, that a United Press correspondent, of the Incom Time, was instrumental in keeping this case alive. This officer and Major Sander, although quoted many times in the press, did not discuss this matter with the press during the period of this report.
