This FBI file section collects July 1947 Bureau memoranda, teletypes, citizen letters and newspaper clippings about reported flying discs. They cover recovered objects at Twin Falls, Idaho, Shreveport, Louisiana, Black River Falls, Wisconsin, and Laurel, Maryland, many judged to be pranks, plus a Grafton, Wisconsin priest's circular saw blade the Milwaukee office called a hoax. A Dallas teletype reports a disc recovered near Roswell resembling a high altitude weather balloon with radar reflector. Kenneth Arnold's own account of his sighting is also included.

UNITED OTES GOVERNMENT TO FROM : b7c DATE: July 11, 1947 SUBJECT: Flying Disc- At 10:45 PM on the evening of July 11, 1947, Clerk of the Washington Field Office called and stated that at the instruction Mr. Hennrich no wanted to pass on to the Bureau information he had just received from one Laurel, Maryland, to the effect that a "flying disc" had just landed in yard "and the machinery is still buzzing." He stated that was apparently so excited a difficult time even getting his name out, and no further detail could be of from him. At 10:50 PM I passed the above information on to duty office at G-2 who indicated he had also received the same data from another source, and would pass our information along to appropriate army quarters. of the AP called at about 10:55 PM and asked whether the Bureau had received any report on a "flying disc" in Laurel Maryland.
