This FBI file section collects July 1947 Bureau memoranda, teletypes, citizen letters and newspaper clippings about reported flying discs. They cover recovered objects at Twin Falls, Idaho, Shreveport, Louisiana, Black River Falls, Wisconsin, and Laurel, Maryland, many judged to be pranks, plus a Grafton, Wisconsin priest's circular saw blade the Milwaukee office called a hoax. A Dallas teletype reports a disc recovered near Roswell resembling a high altitude weather balloon with radar reflector. Kenneth Arnold's own account of his sighting is also included.

# Office Memorandum . UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT TO : Director, FBI DATE: August 27, 1947 FROM : SAC, San Francisco SUBJECT: REPORTS OF FLYING DISCS Attention: Assistant Director D. H. LADD Reference is made to my letter of August 6, 1947, with which there were transmitted photostatic copies of three letters dated August 4, 1947, entitled, "Investigation of Flying Discs". In order to keep the Bureau fully informed concerning this matter, I am enclosing a letter dated July 23, 1947, entitled, "Writentifinale objects" furnished to me by Lt. Colonel 750, A C of S A-2. Enclosed with this letter was a memorandum for the officer in charge written by J.A., Special Agent CIS A45 dated July 18, 1947. Lt. Colonel furnished me in person with a memorandum entitled, "Incident for AF 1808-I" dated August 6, 1947, and prepared by Special Agent OIC 4AF. The Bureau will be kept currently advised of any future information obtained in this matter.
