Federal Bureau of Investigation · 28 pages · text by GLM-OCR

This FBI file on the National Investigations Committee on Aerial Phenomena (NICAP) covers correspondence and internal memos from 1961 to 1964. It contains citizen inquiries about the group, NICAP's reports about Dr. Frank E. Stranges implying he had FBI ties, and a request from New Orleans about an employee joining. The Bureau notes it never investigated NICAP. It calls some of director Donald Keyhoe's writing irresponsible and decides the FBI's name should not be connected with the organization.

Based on similar information received in October, 1860, the Senate Office was requested to conduct an impersonation investigation concerning Dr. Stranges who had appeared in Seattle, Washington. Several persons were identified and gained the impression that Dr. Stranges was a former lieutenant for the FBI. However, after being questioned, each stated that Dr. Stranges made no actual statement that he had worked for the FBI but had actually a former special investigator and continuously referred to the FBI in the past.
