Dear Mr. Hall:

In response to your letter dated March 21, 1960, this is to advise that there has been no change in this Bureau's policy in regard to unidentified flying objects; that we do not gather evidence pertaining thereto for the Department of the Air Force, although any information volunteered is, of course, accepted; and that the photograph mentioned in your letter was not examined by the FBI Laboratory or anyone else for FBI purposes.

With respect to the article which appeared in the "Detroit Times," issue of March 9, 1960, entitled "FBI WANTS TO KNOW Pizza Pie--Or Flying Saucer?," it is noted that certain of the facts in this article as they pertain to the FBI are not set forth accurately and the appropriate officials of the "Detroit Times" have been so advised. Actually, although Mr. Perry, mentioned in the article, did voluntarily furnish two photographs to representatives of this Bureau who contacted him at his request, the FBI did not conduct any investigation in this matter. We did, however, furnish these photographs to a representative of the Department of the Air Force for whatever action was deemed appropriate by that agency.
