This Federal Bureau of Investigation file on cattle mutilation collects correspondence and memos from 1974 to 1976. Senators Carl T. Curtis and Floyd K. Haskell asked the FBI to investigate livestock mutilations in Nebraska, Colorado and other states. Director Clarence M. Kelley replied that no Federal law within FBI jurisdiction had been violated, since there was no interstate transportation. The file also includes news clippings on UFO and helicopter reports, and a Fish and Wildlife Service view that the injuries are consistent with scavengers.

This was the fifth animal killed and mutilated in Madison County under mysterious circumstances. Similar cases have been - reported in Texas, Iowa and other Midwestern states. Each case involves the removal of the animal's sex organs. In Antelope County, Omer Hoffman, four miles west of Clearwater, reported five head of cattle have been mutilated on his ranch. Antelope County Deputy Sheriff D Hamm said that there has been no defin proof that there were people involved the killings he had investigated. Law enforcement officials are punished by the killings. Madison County Sheriff Marvin Adams says that the ones he has investigated have been done by people, probably a cult of some kind. He said, "In every case we've had, cattle have been dead for a few days. Most of them are full of maggots and decay. I hard to tell anything with maggots in incidences."
