This is an Internet Archive mirror of the FBI Vault web page for Majestic 12, captured on March 19, 2016. The page says that in 1988 two FBI offices received similar versions of a memo titled "Operation Majestic 12" that claimed to be a highly classified government document. The memo appeared to brief newly elected President Eisenhower on a secret committee formed to exploit a recovered extraterrestrial aircraft and hide that work from the public. An Air Force investigation found the document to be a fake.
