This is an FBI Freedom of Information/Privacy Acts release to John Greenewald Jr. of The Black Vault, dated March 29, 2023, covering United Nuclear Scientific Supplies. It was the first interim release: of 517 pages reviewed, 119 were released. The records come from the FBI Albuquerque JTTF and describe a 2006 case. An unidentified caller asked the company for chemicals that could serve as Sarin precursors, then turned up in person at the business. The file also contains grand jury subpoenas and interview notes.

To: Boston From ^^Albuquerque Re: 279B-AQ-60281, 02/28/2008 the call and engaged in conversation with _ At this point,| still did not further identify himself. ______ [asked about the chemicals he inquired about a few weeks earlier, andI I responded by stating that he doesn't maintain the chemicals on hand and had not inquired into the availability of the chemicals, because! ~|did not believel ~|was serious about placing an orders | | was supposed to re-contact UNSS, but did not, and declined to give a contact telephone number or name during the series of calls made in July 2006. However, stated he would now inquire, and requested a contact telephone number. said he did not have a contact number and was hard to get a hold of. [replied he needed some way to contact ______ in order to place an order.! [would call back to check the availability of the chemicals at a later date. walked to his vehicle which appeared to be parked an unnecessary distance from UNSS, possibly to avoid being identified.! [described the vehicle as an older model|~ | with rust and without front or rear license plates. The chemicals asked about were: Triethyl Phosphite, Triisopropyl Phosphite, Sodium Fluoride, Aluminum Chloride, Methyl Chloride/Dichloride, Isopropyl Alcohol, and Phosgene gas. FBI Laboratory reports that these chemicals are used in the production of either Sarin or "V-Gas," and two of them fall under restrictions of the Chemical Warfare Convention. out of town and would be back then. 2
