This is an FBI Freedom of Information/Privacy Acts release to John Greenewald Jr. of The Black Vault, dated March 29, 2023, covering United Nuclear Scientific Supplies. It was the first interim release: of 517 pages reviewed, 119 were released. The records come from the FBI Albuquerque JTTF and describe a 2006 case. An unidentified caller asked the company for chemicals that could serve as Sarin precursors, then turned up in person at the business. The file also contains grand jury subpoenas and interview notes.

Normally,______ would order bulk quantities of various chemicals and then sell smaller quantities to customers at a reasonable mark up in order to make a profit. I ~l normally would not have agreed to place a special order for these specific chemicals, but| | was concerned that they would be used to make chemical weapons. The typical turnaround time for receipt of the chemicals is usually two to four weeks. On special orders such as this,I Irequires that the entire purchase price be paid in advance. In this case it would be approximately $1,200.00. / The chemicals would oe delivered by UPS or FedEx. Normally would normally mail the chemicals to the end user. When asked how someone can order a chemical that has a b6 b7C Chemical Warfare Convention restriction, explained that it is quite easy to merely order the precursors for that chemical. If a person has a reasonable background in chemistry, it is possible to actually process needed chemicals from precursors or from raw materials found in nature. |_______| explained that he could empty the packages that contained the chemicals______ wants and replace them with other chemicals that appear genuine but are harmless. When asked what legitimate use I I could have for these chemicals,! [explained that, other than the isopropyl alcohol, a chemist could research for six months and not find a use for the chemicals in other than a destructive or weapons use, there are no safe or reasonable uses for these chemicals. _____ explained that the chemicals| inquired about ordering can be used for nerve gas production. Additionally,! ~~| noted that some of the chemicals are actually redundant in that they achieve the same results through a different chemical process. ______ |was "raided" by the enforcement arm of the_____ Consumer Protection Agency approximately four years ago. ______ and| described a SWAT type raid on their business and home.
