This is an FBI Freedom of Information/Privacy Acts release to John Greenewald Jr. of The Black Vault, dated March 29, 2023, covering United Nuclear Scientific Supplies. It was the first interim release: of 517 pages reviewed, 119 were released. The records come from the FBI Albuquerque JTTF and describe a 2006 case. An unidentified caller asked the company for chemicals that could serve as Sarin precursors, then turned up in person at the business. The file also contains grand jury subpoenas and interview notes.
Albuquerque From: Albuquerque 279B-AQ-60281, 02/13/2007 To: Re: UNSUB was unable to purchase the requisite chemicals from UNSS. Writer requests FIG examine all logical sources for information indicating what other entities in New Mexico sell precursor chemicals useful for the production of nerve agents. UNSUB attempted to purchase several chemicals, including triethyl phosphite, triisopropyl phosphite, sodium fluoride, aluminum chloride, methyl chloride, and isopropyl alcohol. The caller also asked about the chemical formula for phosgene gas. This information would be useful in a tactical sense in order to determine the identity of the UNSUB, should he have attempted another purchase in New Mexico. The information is also useful in a strategic sense for the use in a I 1 prevention of terrorist activity, asset b7E development, and domain awareness. 2'
