This FBI file on Daniel Fry, released under FOI/PA with 33 pages withheld, collects 1963 memoranda between the New York and Los Angeles field offices. New York found a 1962 letter and agreement signed by Daniel W. Fry about articles for "Understanding" magazine. Los Angeles reported that Fry was president of the Understanding movement and was trying to set up a utopian community at Merlin, Oregon, and it enclosed his book "The White Sands Incident". None of the index references to him were derogatory.

Enclosed for New York are the following: W. FBY. (4) One copy of "white Sands Incident," by DANIEL Los Angeles indices contain several references to DANIEL FRY, all of which pertain to his activities with flying saucers with the exception of one reference reporting his having seen a passenger of the SS KOTA BARON in November, 1943, and was accordingly involved in a foreign travel control investigation at that time. Nothing derogatory was developed during that investigation. None of the references was of a derogatory nature.
