This section of FBI file 62-HQ-83894 collects Bureau correspondence on flying saucers from 1957 to 1966. It includes a 1957 memo on the rise in UFO reports after Sputnik, in which the Air Force told the FBI that the recent sightings were nonauthentic. It also holds a Havana report of a disc over Matahambre, Cuba, and inquiries about Robert T. Stone's Inter Continental Aerial Research Foundation and a Torrington, Connecticut sighting. Hoover's replies state that UFOs were never within FBI jurisdiction.

Re Albuquerque airtel to Bureau , 4/28/64 , and
Bureau airtel to Albuquerque , 4/28/ 64 .
As noted in Albuquerque airtel , Captain R. T.
HOIDER , Up Range Commander , Stallion Range Center,
Socorro , N. M. , was immediately advised , 4/24/64 , of the
facts in this case . He observed the site of the incident ,
4/ 24/64 , and made measurements while SAD , ARTHUR BYRNES ,
JR . was placing rocks around the four earth indentations
and around one other mark at the sit e .
Late 4/ 24/ 64 and into 4/ 25/ 64 , Captain HOLDEN ,
who is with ~e_J,I . S . Air Force , and SA BYRNES interviewed
Officer 1.DNN~AMORA of the Socorr o Police Department .

SA BYRNES typed up a statement like account ~
f r om Officer ZAMORA as given by ZAMORA under lengthy Jcinterrogation . Captain HOLDER diagramed his measurements
of the scene .
Early 4/25/64 , Captain HOIDER and SA BYRNES
delivered the or iginal and a copy of ZAMORA ' s statements
and Captain HOLDER ' s diagrams to the authorities at
Stallion Site , approximately 30 miles southeast of Socorro .
Two letterhead memorandums are enclosed, one
from Officer ZAMORA and one of observations of SA BYRNES .
Also enclosed is a copy of eh11._rts made by Captain HOLDER
