Base at Mil denhall, Engl and, telephonically contacted writer on
February 14, 1953, regarding the new or revived interest i n
"flying saucers. 11 He stated he did not have any new information
to report but did know of an incident that took place several
years ago and which the Bureau may desire to check.
Thi s incident, according to Maj or Walkers, concerns an article
or story on "flying saucer s " which appeared in a s mall newspaper
w:ith limited circulation in the Township of Jeffersonville, Delaware
Township, Sulliv an Count y, New York . He was unable to recall the
name of the newspaper but was certain it is the only one publ ished
in that area. The story appeared in one of the early 1947 issues or
in one of the issues during the l ast three months of 1946. It was )
written by a member of the u . S . Armed Forces and of significance is
the fact that s ubsequent issues failed to follow it up by carrying
additional stories on "flying saucers. " Also significant is the
fact that it appeared in a small and practically unknown newspape r .
Major Walkers s t ates he is merely reporting this for what i t
may be worth and is being forwarded to the Bureau for any action con-
sidered appropriate .
