FBI file 62-HQ-83894, section 5

Department of War · 209 pages · text by GLM-OCR

This section of FBI file 62-HQ-83894 collects Bureau correspondence on flying disks from 1949 and 1950. Most of it concerns a letter to Walter Winchell, passed on by Ernest Cuneo, from Peter Camerlon Jones, who said he saw a top-shaped silver object in the mountains near Los Angeles in August 1947. Los Angeles agents could not find Jones, and Hoover suggested the letter might be a prank. The file also holds a Navy intelligence report on 6 or 7 discs seen over southern Oregon on 27 May 1949, plus letters from members of the public about Chicago and Toronto.

Martin Aircraft Co. Makers of the Martin Marauder. The craft is only mode for one way trips. 27 has a range of 4000 miles. Ceiling of 25000 feet, and a speed of 150 miles per hour. So far only a few of these craft have been made, and they usually are pitched in the lake or ocean, as they cannot be landed. They are merely to carry a bomb of high destruction to enemy country. They have no wheels, but small steel rails on the bottom from which they to be off. All other mechanism can be explained in detail.

The man who welded the ship says it is by far the best long range bombing instrument he has ever seen. The name of the ship is the " Danse Macabre " .
