This FBI file section collects 1949 and 1950 Bureau correspondence on flying saucer reports. It follows Ernest Cuneo's July 1949 request, made for Walter Winchell, that the Bureau check a Los Angeles letter writer, Peter Camerlon Jones, who claimed a 1947 mountain encounter with a silver top-shaped object. The Los Angeles office could not locate Jones, and Hoover suggested the letter may have been a prank. The section also holds sighting letters from West Virginia, Toronto and Chicago, notes on reports around Camp Hood, and memos passing information to the Air Force and OSI.
