This is section 1 of FBI headquarters file 62-HQ-83894 on flying discs, compiled in July and August 1947. It collects press clippings, including a report of a disc found by a priest in Grafton, Wisconsin, that a Milwaukee memo treats as a prank involving a circular saw. It also holds a Milwaukee report on a disc found near Black River Falls, a Portland teletype about a pilot's sighting over Myrtle Creek, Oregon, citizen letters, and Hoover's correspondence forwarding material to the War Department.

At 10s45 PM on the evening of July n, 1947, Clerk Pierc-y of the :: ~::a

effect that a "flyinf disc" had just landed in Parker's yard "and the ___::-_-_-_
machinery is still buzzing." Piercy s~ted Parker was apparently so excited he had
a difficult time even getting his name out, and no further detai l could be obtained
from him.
At l0t50 PM I passed the above information on to Captain West, duty officer
at 0-2 wio indicat~d he htd also received the same data from another source, md

Sid Robe!"ts of the AP called at about 10: 55 PM and asked whether t he
Bure~ had received any report on a nnying disc" i n Laurel Maryland. After
checking with Mr. Nichols I told him we had, !"eceived s uch a report and had passed
it on to army authorities.
