This is section 1 of FBI headquarters file 62-HQ-83894 on flying discs, compiled in July and August 1947. It collects press clippings, including a report of a disc found by a priest in Grafton, Wisconsin, that a Milwaukee memo treats as a prank involving a circular saw. It also holds a Milwaukee report on a disc found near Black River Falls, a Portland teletype about a pilot's sighting over Myrtle Creek, Oregon, citizen letters, and Hoover's correspondence forwarding material to the War Department.

FLETCHER AT THE BUREAU AT 8 :30 AM, 7/7/47 For the Bureau's information, United Press and Associated Press telephoned me at my residence about three or four times between 1:00 A. JJ. and 2:30 :\.. M., Jul~,1947. The United Press representative informed ne that Father JOSE RASKY had stated on interview by a Mi.1-rra.ukee Sentinel reporter, o BILL 1EEKS, (Phonetic) that he, Father BRASKY, was going to call the FBI concerning the contraption, ,mich apparently was identical with one of the flying discs recently publicized throughout the country. The United Press representative desired to lmrn'if if we had any statement to make on the natter. I infonned him that I had no official comment, other than 11 No Comment. 11 Since I have contacted the United Press representative on various occasions, I asked him w.hat the actual details were, and he stated he did not know except that the intervievr of the priest reflected that a circular saw had been found with some devices attached to it. The Associated Press called me shortly after the United Press representative did, and on being advised that I had no comment to make concerning the story, I asked the Associated Press representa tive what the actual facts were, and he informed IOO that as far as the Associated Press was concerned, the facts were that a circular saw had been found and a story had been obtained from a priest who had been drinking quite heavily. The Associated Press representative infonned me that apparently the United Press desired to get a statement from me denying or affirming that the FBI was investigating the matter. No reference was nade to the FBI in the Milwaukee Sentinel article appearing July 7, 1947, but the Milwaukee Journal article, which is attached, referred to an alleged statement by Father BRASKY that he attempted to get in rA. cJ... touch with an FBI Agent whom he knows .
