This is section 1 of FBI headquarters file 62-HQ-83894 on flying discs, compiled in July and August 1947. It collects press clippings, including a report of a disc found by a priest in Grafton, Wisconsin, that a Milwaukee memo treats as a prank involving a circular saw. It also holds a Milwaukee report on a disc found near Black River Falls, a Portland teletype about a pilot's sighting over Myrtle Creek, Oregon, citizen letters, and Hoover's correspondence forwarding material to the War Department.

Who, what, where, why are flyinf disks? Th~ear·s bi,t~est mybtery produced
these Sunday photos while reports came fro everywhere and everyone that
the saucers were everywhere. Top left, a movie amera is fitted to a P-51 fi&hter
plane at Portland, Ore., as Oregon national guard planes arc made ready to chase
the disks. Lower, Mrs. Walter Johnson (rlght) of Spokane, Wash., and her chil-

sappear. Right, is Father Joseph Brasky of St. Joseph's Catholic churct at
Grafton, Wis., with the disk he reported struck his church early Sunday. It
turned out that th'\! d~~k was a prankster made projectile, featuring a Dunlop cir
cular saw blade. Note that something apparently took a glass ball off one of the
