This is section 1 of FBI headquarters file 62-HQ-83894 on flying discs, compiled in July and August 1947. It collects press clippings, including a report of a disc found by a priest in Grafton, Wisconsin, that a Milwaukee memo treats as a prank involving a circular saw. It also holds a Milwaukee report on a disc found near Black River Falls, a Portland teletype about a pilot's sighting over Myrtle Creek, Oregon, citizen letters, and Hoover's correspondence forwarding material to the War Department.

attached teletype. He wanted to know what policy the Bureau was following ~~•No:~~11--==
in connection ~1th reports concerning these "flying discs" 'Which were
received.
I told Mr. Weeks . that, unless advised to the contrary, he should,

FBI. He was ttold the Bureau W>uld be interested in being kept advised of develop-
' ments, and in copies of the photographs he said C-r-2 would make of the object
found, but that he should not allow himself to be jockeyed into a position where
investigative responsibility, if any were entailed, 10 uld .f'all on us. Mr. Weeks said
he would so handle unless r called him back immediately lfith instructions for
\ t11pecific action.
