This is section 1 of FBI headquarters file 62-HQ-83894 on flying discs, compiled in July and August 1947. It collects press clippings, including a report of a disc found by a priest in Grafton, Wisconsin, that a Milwaukee memo treats as a prank involving a circular saw. It also holds a Milwaukee report on a disc found near Black River Falls, a Portland teletype about a pilot's sighting over Myrtle Creek, Oregon, citizen letters, and Hoover's correspondence forwarding material to the War Department.

Schulgen of the Army Air Corps Intelligence had requested that the Bureau cooparate with the Army Air Corps Intelligence in conmction with the above captiored natter. For instance in the I.a . case the Arnry grabbed it an::l. would not let us have it for cursory examiration. 11 This is to advise that Spacial Agent Reynolds has recontacted General Schulgen arrl advised him in connection with the Director's notation. He indicated, hoviever, that he believed it mcessary to follow this matter through to dete:nnirn as mar as possible if discs wre in fact seen and to detennine their origin. General Schulgen inquired of Mr. Raynolds the methoo. by which the Bureau would maka the infornation obtained from the Bureau' s inquiries, known to the Air Corps, in the Field as well as at the 7.ar Deplrt:rrent level. Mr . Reynolds pointed out to General Schul gen that the best procedure appeared to be through the regular established chanrel s .
