This is section 1 of FBI headquarters file 62-HQ-83894 on flying discs, compiled in July and August 1947. It collects press clippings, including a report of a disc found by a priest in Grafton, Wisconsin, that a Milwaukee memo treats as a prank involving a circular saw. It also holds a Milwaukee report on a disc found near Black River Falls, a Portland teletype about a pilot's sighting over Myrtle Creek, Oregon, citizen letters, and Hoover's correspondence forwarding material to the War Department.

You should also bear in mind that individuals might report seeing flying discs for various reasons. It is conceivable that an individual might be desirous of . seeking personal publicity, causing hysteri~ Ior playing a j?rank. u I w The Bureau should be notified immediately by teletype of all reported ii: sie;htinss and the results of your inqui~ies. In instances where the report appears t to have merit , the teletype should be followed by a letter to the Bureau containing o in detail the results of your inquiries. The Amy Air Forces have assured the 0 Bureau complete cooperating in these matters and in any instances where they fail to ~ make information avail able to you or make the recovered discs available for your ~ examination, it should promptly be brought to the attention of the Bureau.
