FLYING DISCS.
Remytel tenth instant.
On September 10, 1947 an ite~ relative to flyin~ saJcers appeared in
\l.-- . ~e Salt La~e Tribune indica'ting~J two younr couples, Mr . and Mrs . GA}'LON
1' hfLDWELL and Mr . am.Mrs~ RICHA~ RSOM, Lo1<an, Ctah, who had been playing
~ bridp:e, reoorted that they saw three brief flip.hts of saucers, the first at
10:40 p.m. and two more before 11 : 10 p .m. the eve~i ~ Septe~ber 8, 1947.
This news·article~~ contained the narriesof KEITJr1fiJGHES , JO~.KSTON, and
Mr . and Mrs . F~ruNELL of Logan who had likewise.made separate renorts of
havin~ observed these flyinr discs .
Mr . and Mrs . RICHARD ANDERSON, when interviewed by an Afl'ent of this
office, advised that they, in company with Mr. and Mrs . GAYLON CALD'.'JELL, observed
apnr oximatel~• a dozen objects f'lyin_g in p:roup formation at about two or three
thousand feet i~ the air. They stated that they ~irst observsd these o~jects
on Sentember 8, 1947 at 10:30 p. m. when their bridge game b roke uo and both COlDles
went out on the porch . The A~l'DERSONS believed these obiects to be similar i n
size to nip-eons and stated that they seemed to be rather ·nhite and illuminated .
T~ey infor~ed t hat the obiects could have been birds; however, they appeared
to be ~ovin~ faster than birds as they circled the city in aryoroximatqly one to
two minutes, and then disappeared in a northern directio.
Mr . and Mrs . ANDERSON claimed to have observed no wing movement during
the flight, and are unable to make up their minds as to exactly what they saw.
Mr . A~JDERSON informed that Mr. and Mrs . CALDWELL are presently en route to an
unknown city in Nebraska .
Mr. KEITH HUGHES and JOAN CROOKSTON both advised that they ware unable
to state how their names appeared in the newspaper as havin ,,. observed f l ying
sa..ioers inasrnuch as neither had ever had the op_oortunity to view ~he~e- f.Vin
objects, and the newspaper report was erroneous. ~~•

Mra FRED THUNELL advised that she, her husband,and five other oeople Jhad observed flying ob jeots between 10:30 and 11:00 p . rn . on the evening of 1
September 8, 1947. She stat~d that they saw five iioups , each containinr ~
thirt~r- five to sixty small objects, which we~e rather yellowish white in color .,
and were circlin~ the city at a hi~h rate of soeed. Mrs . THUNELL stated that •~
