Documents / FOIA release
This FAA FOIA release answers John Greenewald of The Black Vault's February 24, 2021 request for records on the February 21, 2021 encounter between American Airlines Flight 2292 and an unknown object over New Mexico. Dennis Hill, Deputy Director of Air Carrier Safety Assurance, signed the cover letter. It encloses internal emails in which Air Force representatives to the FAA arranged an investigation and asked for a radar playback. The FAA says further responsive records belong to the Department of Defense.
