DoD Inspector General records on Grusch interview

This FOIA release from the Department of Defense Office of Inspector General, dated January 12, 2024, answers John Greenewald of The Black Vault. It releases, in part, 16 pages of records tied to David Grusch. They include a DoD OIG evaluation work paper on a July 2021 interview with Air Force Major David Grusch, the NRO liaison to the UAP Task Force. In the interview he said there was no formal UAP reporting mechanism and called the DNI UAP report analysis not very in-depth. He also proposed a permanent office for strategic anomalies.

6. (U) Major Grusch stated that he recommended the DoD fund and conduct “red and
blue assessments” [of UAP], in addition to establishing a permanent office to investigate
what he called “strategic anomalies.” Additionally, Major Grusch provided us with a
copy of a briefing regarding a proposed permanent office to handle such strategic
anomalies (including UAP).

actions regarding UAP (to his knowledge).
