This is the Department of Defense's final response to John Greenewald Jr.'s FOIA request 22-F-0035, dated August 5, 2025. It releases 106 pages from the Defense Office of Prepublication and Security Review, with some material withheld under exemptions (b)(4), (b)(5) and (b)(6). The pages cover the 2020 to 2021 security review of James Lacatski's manuscript "Skinwalkers at the Pentagon: Correcting the Record," about DIA's AAWSAP program. The records include DIA, Air Force and DHS reviews, and the manuscript was cleared as amended in May 2021.

We currently have about 55 open manuscripts/appeals. We've broken down the manuscripts into categories to focus attention on closing the oldest, those that may bring Congressional/attorney/leadership interest, and those that can be closed out fairly easily. These do not need to be running lists but just a glimpse now of what we have and how we could tackle them. Some cases are appearing on more than one list. 7 Oldest Manuscripts Appeals Possible Congressional/Attorney Interest Senior Officials Easier Close-Out (within 30 - 45 days) Paul and I are focusing initially on the 3 open appeals and the 7 oldest. I'm asking each action officer whose manuscript appears on a list to provide an update, and for those on the Easier Close-Out list to prepare to be closed by July 31. 1
