Unidentified Flying Objects Reports

Defense Intelligence Agency · 140 pages · text by OCR

This Defense Intelligence Agency release gathers Army and Air Force intelligence reports on unidentified flying objects from several countries. It contains translated Finnish Border Guard reports of glowing spheres and lights seen near the Soviet border, a Costa Rica sighting near Puntarenas, and Afghan news items from 1959 on bright objects over Kandahar, Mazar-i-Sharif and Kabul. Other reports describe objects over Kuldja in Sinkiang, China. A 1969 OSI report from Nakhon Phanom, Thailand concludes that a pilot's ground sighting was probably a religious procession carrying ceremonial drums.

AIR ATTACHE.

UNITED STATES EMBASSY.

WELLINGTON.

DEAR SIR,

SINCE SHOWING YOU THE INFORMATION I HAD GATHERED ON U.F.O'S SOME WEEKS BACK, A FEW MORE INTERESTING FACTS HAVE COME TO MY NOTICE.

I HAVE A REPORT WHICH STATES THAT THE 'CANBERRA' U.F.O. WAS SIGHTED IN THE AREA JUST BEFORE THE SIGNALS FROM THE MARS SATELLITE WERE BEING RECEIVED, AND THAT IT LEFT SOON AFTERWARDS. IT WAS APPARENTLY HOVERING NEAR THE RECEIVING STATION DURING THE TIME THE GARBLED SIGNALS WERE INTERCEPTED.

ALSO THE SATELLITE ITSELF WAS APPARENTLY $ 7 \frac{1}{2} $ MINUTES LATE IN EMERGING FROM BEHIND MARS, CAUSING MUCH PUZZLEMENT TO THE SCIENTISTS.

THESE FACTS APPEAR MOST SIGNIFICANT TO ME, ESPECIALLY WHEN THERE IS ABSOLUTE SILENCE FROM THE PRESS AND PUBLICATIONS SUCH AS 'TIME' MAGAZINE.

ALSO TWO WEEKS AGO THREE U.F.O'S WERE OBSERVED IN THE DARGAVILLE AREA. SOME OF THE CREW OF A NAVAL COASTAL BOAT SAW THEM BESIDES SEVERAL CIVILIANS. I CHECKED MY MAPS AND SURE ENOUGH TWO OF MY PLOTTED TRACKS CROSS AT A POINT ON THE WEST OF DARGAVILLE TOWNSHIP. FROM A GENERAL INDICATION OF THE NEW ZEALAND SIGHTINGS I BELIEVE THAT THE GRID TO THE NORTH OF DARGAVILLE ON THE WESTERN COAST HAS YET TO BE COMPLETED. FURTHER SIGHTINGS IN THE NORTH MAY CONFIRM THIS.

I AM MOST CURIOUS TO KNOW WHAT RE-ACTION WAS RECEIVED FROM THE STATES TO THE INFORMATION I SUPPLIED.

IF THE RE-ACTION WAS NEGATIVE I FEEL THAT I AM COMPLETELY FREE TO PUBLISH ALL THE INFORMATION THAT I HAVE GATHERED. IN THIS WAY I AM SURE THAT FURTHER FACTS WILL FIND THEIR WAY TO ME SO THAT I MAY BE NEARER TO THE COMPLETE ANSWER.

I AM ON INDEFINITE LEAVE AT THIS TIME DUE TO AN EAR OPERATION AND DO NOT KNOW WHEN MY NEXT VISIT TO WELLINGTON WILL BE. I WOULD BE MOST INTERESTED TO HEAR OF ANY DEVELOPMENTS.

I REMAIN.

YOURS FAITHFULLY.
