Unidentified Flying Objects Reports

Defense Intelligence Agency · 140 pages · text by GLM-OCR

This Defense Intelligence Agency release gathers Army and Air Force intelligence reports on unidentified flying objects from several countries. It contains translated Finnish Border Guard reports of glowing spheres and lights seen near the Soviet border, a Costa Rica sighting near Puntarenas, and Afghan news items from 1959 on bright objects over Kandahar, Mazar-i-Sharif and Kabul. Other reports describe objects over Kuldja in Sinkiang, China. A 1969 OSI report from Nakhon Phanom, Thailand concludes that a pilot's ground sighting was probably a religious procession carrying ceremonial drums.

A more recent reported sighting occurred on 30 March 1967 in Rio Comprido. However, this one was reported only by ground observers. The object was described as completely white, silent, flying at low altitude, and would disappear and re-appear at regular intervals. This particular sighting received very little publicity in the news media.

COMMENTS: As yet the Air Ministry has not issued any official comment on these sightings and is presently studying the statements of the aircraft crews and ground observers.
