This Defense Intelligence Agency release gathers Army and Air Force intelligence reports on unidentified flying objects from several countries. It contains translated Finnish Border Guard reports of glowing spheres and lights seen near the Soviet border, a Costa Rica sighting near Puntarenas, and Afghan news items from 1959 on bright objects over Kandahar, Mazar-i-Sharif and Kabul. Other reports describe objects over Kuldja in Sinkiang, China. A 1969 OSI report from Nakhon Phanom, Thailand concludes that a pilot's ground sighting was probably a religious procession carrying ceremonial drums.

SUMMARY: This IR forwards a translation of an article appearing in the 23 Aug 65 issue of a Montevideo newspaper, El Diario. It covers the activities of the ICUO (Investigation Center for Unidentified Objects) since its establishment in 1958. It concludes that flying saucers are more than an optical illusion. FLYING SAUCERS OVER MONTEVIDEO A group of people in Uruguay have taken charge of investigating and publicizing the problem raised by repeated observance in the atmosphere of our planet of some apparati that could not be identified and which are grouped under the international denomination of UFOS (Unidentified Flying Objects) or OVNIS (Non-identified Flying Objects). On 29 April 1958 several persons held a meeting to organize and join forces with other centers abroad for the purpose of learning more about and becoming acquainted with every aspect connected with the mysterious objects.
