This Defense Intelligence Agency release gathers Army and Air Force intelligence reports on unidentified flying objects from several countries. It contains translated Finnish Border Guard reports of glowing spheres and lights seen near the Soviet border, a Costa Rica sighting near Puntarenas, and Afghan news items from 1959 on bright objects over Kandahar, Mazar-i-Sharif and Kabul. Other reports describe objects over Kuldja in Sinkiang, China. A 1969 OSI report from Nakhon Phanom, Thailand concludes that a pilot's ground sighting was probably a religious procession carrying ceremonial drums.

Sometime during February or March 1962, Source witnessed what appeared to be two vertical take-offs of unidentified flying objects from the center of the Soviet airfield (Institution, 0523, EC 0231-05073) at 5122004-157035 (GB 065948) west of MKCELAND. The two take-offs occurred within a three day interval and both times at approximately 0200 hours. Since the house from which Source made his observation was located about two kilometers from the take-off point, he was unable to recognize or describe the flying objects. The only positive identification was the exhaust flame, which was bright red and grayish white at the end and the soise which he described as being louder than a normal jet engine under full power. The object ascended vertically for approximately seven seconds, sniffing a very low pitch sound and a higher pitched sound after the object leveled off and disappeared in a westerly direction.
