This Internet Archive item compiles 1965 to 1968 records from National Research Council of Canada files (RG 77, Vol. 306) on non-meteoritic sightings. It contains fireball and UFO telex reports from RCAF stations, RCC Vancouver and the RCMP, covering lights seen over Sydney, Vancouver, Cochrane, Toronto, Whitehorse and Shediac. It also includes an RCMP investigation of a 12 July 1968 impact at Tobin Road, Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia, which concluded the object was probably a meteorite, not a UFO.

# UFO seen on Valley farm DEEP RIVER (Special) An unidentified flying object, the second seen north of Ottawa in 14 hours, interfered with a family's television reception and disrupted their supper Thursday evening. The object was spotted three miles south of Deep River on the farm of W. J. McCarthy off the Wylie Road. Miss Mary McCarthy, 65, a retired CPR wire operator said her 16-year-old nephew Lee Elliott, one of six children of Mrs. Dan Elliott who also live at the farm, had first sighted the object from the supper table. ## 16 feet across Miss McCarthy described it as being extremely bright and about 16 feet in diameter. It reamined in a stationary position on a hill she said about 1/4 of a mile from the farm house. She said the bright yellow lights would dim at short intervals but that the object also appeared to have red lights glowing from its outer rim which seemed to leave and return again. "When the object was spotted at 6.43 p.m., the television, set went on the blink," she added. Two of Mrs. Elliott's children Francis, 8, and Jammie, 3, cried during the ordeal but older sisters Cathy, 12, and Margaret, 13, began to draw pictures of the object. Miss McCarthy said, "I was more curious than scared. If the snowmobile was, working, I would have gone to investigate." ## Cut off TV "When the object disappeared about 40 minutes later the television, reception was restored," she added. police cruisers came after it had vanished. Capt. Ken Parks, an information officer at the base, said planes were shooting flares in the area at the same time residents spotted the object. A number of persons reported seeing a bright blinding light ringed with small red lights.
