This sanitized Central Intelligence Agency information report, approved for release on 2 April 2001, sets out UFO sightings reported in February and March 1968 over Ladakh, Nepal, Sikkim and Bhutan. For each sighting it gives the date, local time, area, direction of flight and a description of the object. The objects included bright lights, rocket-like trails and objects heard with thunder sounds. A metallic disc-shaped object was reportedly found in a crater near Pokhara, Nepal. It was bright enough to brighten the area. Thimpu East to West. However since due east of Thimpu there is nothing but Indian territory the direction of flight could well be from North-east to South-west, that is, from the direction of Tibet. 4 March 1968 1300 Ladakh Ane La area Object was following a circular path. Left a trail of smoke behind it. 25 March 1968 2150 Fukche, Koyul, Demchok Appeared from Chang La side and was seen moving towards Demochok, i.e. from north to south. Rocket-like object leaving white-yellow trail about 20 y. long at a height of 20-25,000 feet.
