Ship Sightings, Port Facilities, and Installations in the Kherson Area

This Central Intelligence Agency information report, distributed 5 March 1957 and approved for release in sanitized form on 1 July 2010, collects twelve attachments on the Soviet port of Kherson in the Ukrainian SSR. The attachments hold sketches, photographs and observations of cranes, wharf repairs, shipyards building tankers, fuel tanks, a radar station on Nikolayev Island and a nearby airfield. They also report Kherson-built fishing boats with HIGH SIEVE type radar seen at Djibouti on their way to Vladivostok. The report has nothing to do with UFOs.

## I. ORGANIZATION.

observed a total of seven cranes, two of which were brand new, situated along the length of the dock used for loading and unloading. I.

laborers engaged in paving the dock with cement. Work has legan at the STEK area and has reached the first warehouse.

observed a space of 0.30 meters wide and 1 motor high being left 25X1 under the pavement, evidently for cables to go through. -

observed two tankers being under construction in the shingards area.25X1
