Documents / FOIA release
This Central Intelligence Agency information report, distributed 5 March 1957 and approved for release in sanitized form on 1 July 2010, collects twelve attachments on the Soviet port of Kherson in the Ukrainian SSR. The attachments hold sketches, photographs and observations of cranes, wharf repairs, shipyards building tankers, fuel tanks, a radar station on Nikolayev Island and a nearby airfield. They also report Kherson-built fishing boats with HIGH SIEVE type radar seen at Djibouti on their way to Vladivostok. The report has nothing to do with UFOs.

These were equipped with a radar and a radio direction finder. 25X1 these came from KHERSON where they had been built, and were bound for VLADIVOSTOK. 25X1 Both were equipped with Diesel engines and had wooden decks made of narrow peach pine boards. One of them bore amidships a 3.5 X 3.5 meter water tank, that stood out of the deck. These fishing boats were about 50 - 55 meters long and about 9 - 10 meters wide. The radar antenna resembled the HIGH SIEVE type. See sketch of these herebelow: a) Holds (two) b) Water tank c) Bridge d) Radio direction finder e) Radar f) Funnel g) Masts
