This Central Intelligence Agency information report, declassified under the Nazi War Crimes Disclosure Act, forwards copies of British interrogation reports from about December 1949. The main report covers a defector from the East German Volkspolizei school at Prenzlau and describes its strength, weapons, artillery training, staff and political character, with captured training documents attached. Another report describes the Sachsenhausen camp under Russian administration, including its guards, food, housing, medical care and death rate. The text contains no UFO material.

Just before the capitulation the family moved out to their week-end house at EGGERSDORF (near STRAUSSBERG), Just aftor the capitulation Source's father, who had been a Zellenleiter in the N.S.D.A.P. was arrested by the Russians and taken to LANDSBERG, and a long time afterwards the family received news through the International Red Cross that he had died. 2. After Source had finished his apprenticeship in 1948 he went illegally to the British Zone (ROTBENBURG in the HANNOVER area) where he remained until he returned illegally to the R.O.Z. to visit his mother at Xmas 1948. Source claims that he was caught on the way back and therefore had to remain in the Russian Zone. He did not work until he joined the police in March 1949, 3. At his first unit at POTSDAM/EICHE he became a Gruppenfdhrer but on post- ing to the unit at HIRST he held no function. In August 1949 he was posted to the new school at PBENZLAU and with this unit he served with various companies and was GrupponfOrer/2er stellv Zugfdhrer before becoming Comeahy Clerk (Kompanieschreiber) with thej Komp.nie . at the beginning of November 1949. 4. Source reports that his mother moved to BLRLIN (U.S: Sector) . in October 1949 when she Obtained a residential permit an account of the fact that the family had lived there until 1945. Source claims that his mother hopes to get the family shop back again in which case he intends helping her with it; 5. Source claims that naturally during his police service he was asked to join the S.E.D. but he told them that ho was a member of the local Ortsgruppe; They asked if he would produce a certificate to this effect and he Obtained one from the ECCERSIORY Ortsgruppe to the effect that "he had applied to join the party." Source claims that to safeguard himself he had at one time asked the local party office for a questionnaire in order to join but that he had never filled-up same nor submitted it. It is rather hard to believe that the police accepted this certificate the more so as Source claims that he was voted as ier Vorsitzender within his police group. 6. Source claims that his trouble with the police really only began during the eeek before he defected when his Kompaniefftrer discovered that he had been keeping a diary part of which had been written in code.' . Also very hard to believe is the fact that after the diary had been taken from him by the Kom- paniefdhrer (Oberrat KUNISH) Source took it back from KUNISH's doek and burned it. Source was questioned about the coded part of the.diary but claims that he "un,-coded" it all as part of his private life. 7. It is also strange that after this affair with the diary Source was still allowed to work in the company office but he claims that as from that time on- wardi he was no longer left in possession of certain secret documents which had been previously left in his room. Apart from the three possible reasons for Sour i.e. fact that his mother is now living in the U.S. non-xembership of the S.h.D. might at any moment be being an agent as he had kept a coded diary - Sourc, the week before he defected three pupils of the soh, had been receiving letters or having correspondenoe Sectors.
