This undated Central Intelligence Agency memorandum was sent to the Commissioner of the Immigration and Naturalization Service in reply to a request for derogatory information on Nicolae Malaxa, a Romanian industrialist. It reviews certified Romanian records supplied in 1949 on Malaxa's behalf. It covers claims that he collaborated with Germany, his links to the Iron Guard and his arrest after the 1941 revolt, and compensation arranged by the Communist-dominated government. It also reports his continued financial support of exile groups. The document contains no UFO material.

(Attachment E, certified 9 Mey 1946). No mention is made of the fact that the above verdict was in connection with the Iron Onard rebellion (see para. 6 above). It is further noted that although only Women are charged with "violation of domicile", according to the jULTsstalega (see pare. a), the taking of this straogpoint reqUired "artillery bee- bardment" before the rebels capitulated. 12. On 9 September 1941, aocoriteg to copies of documente reecived from Mr. COICAIRE, MAMA was given full freedom (Attachment F. certified 2414E71946). Concerning the question of the length of time MILAXA was in prison or under house arrest, it appears from Attachments B end? end The Connell of Ministers publication that his Impriseencet wee limited to 70 days, followed bye period of "forced domicile" of 159 days, between the date of Ms irepriecement on 23 Januery 1941 and 9 SsPteshar 1914. 13. In a copy of a docunent in English purporting to be a transla- tion from the %maul= Official rosette of 19 Fehrmmmrle441 three of - HAWA II. factories were confiscated an charges of profiteering which reached &figure as high as 1000$ (Attachment 0, certified 9Mey 1946). According to this document, the state could not permit the entrepreneur to "collect provoking bent its to the detriment of the State and of the_ workman". There appears to to someconfusion concerning the question of. whether MALAXA was arrested for this charge. It will be noted that the decree confiscating the factories does not refer to the arrest of MALAXA which took place daring the Iron Guard revolt. It will to further noted (see pale. 9) that when heves released from prison on 3 April /941 • and pieced under house arrest, the charge was for "activities, perilous for the exietenceend interests of the State." 14..
