This Central Intelligence Agency secret cable, dated 13 January 1960 and declassified in 2008 under the Nazi War Crimes Disclosure Act, is part of the agency's file on Amin el Husseini. It says the Grand Mufti had been in Baghdad for some time on a trip arranged by the Iraqi military attache in Beirut and was asking the UAR for permission to return to Cairo. It also notes the UAR's belief that he had no more than a dozen loyal followers in Gaza.
