This is Volume II, Part 1 of the CIA History Staff's Official History of the Bay of Pigs Operation, a Top Secret history dated October 1979 and approved for release in July 2011. It looks at how the Agency took part in shaping US foreign policy toward Guatemala and Nicaragua during the anti-Castro program. It covers dealings with President Ydigoras Fuentes and Roberto Alejos, training sites such as Retalhuleu, cover stories, and negotiations with the Somoza brothers for an air base and port. It contains no UFO material.

But following receipt of his copy of the cable,
________________ 1 sent an OPIM to the director pointing
out that COB TRAV had failed to properly coordinate
his cable for, in truth, Alejos was reported to
have been "enthusiastic about additional 400 men ln
training program" and, furthermore, according to
c==J, Alejos had taken a nurnberof steps to place
additional facilities at the disposal of the in-
corning trainees, including additional housing and
the laying of a pipeline to insure that there would
be no shortage of water at JMTRAV. c==Jchewed on
COB TRAV for failure to coordinate because this
was the sort of thing which could lead to the brBak-
down of the cover story and embarrassment to the
GOG. message closed on the following note:
