This Central Intelligence Agency personality (201) dossier on Sandelio Herminio Diaz Garcia holds material dated from November 1956 to August 1975 and was approved for release in 2025. It contains 1966 intelligence cables on a 29 May 1966 exile infiltration attempt near Havana, in which Diaz was reported killed while trying to assassinate Fidel Castro. It also includes a report on cancelled assassination plans, 1973 traces linking a Herminio Diaz to narcotics trafficking, and FBI file listings. The dossier contains no UFO material.

## DETAILS LCFLUTTER charts run during the first interview were not conclusive. As Subject had "backed down" considerably on his account of the Iden B assassination plan during the interview and it appeared that there was considerable background information related to the pertinent questions which Subject had not fully explained, it was decided to interrogate Subject on the most obvious areas of withholding during another interview. Following the second interview, Subject was retested, the questions revised by adjustments Subject made to his earlier claims. Concerning the Iden B plot to assassinate CASTRO: The plans for the assassination are Subject's, not Iden B's. Subject has not discussed his plan with Iden B. Iden B has never specifically told Subject that it would be necessary to assassinate CASTRO. Subject inferred it from things Iden B has said. Subject said that the coup would have to take place Iden D. Iden B never said this to Subject. Subject did not come here as a representative of the Iden B group and is not aware of what plans the group has made in the last three months. Subject's own plan for the assassination is currently in the theoretical state; he needs personnel, vehicles, and arms which he thinks could be difficult to obtain in order to put his plan into effect. However, Subject is acquainted with Iden B and does consider him the leader of an anti-Communist faction in the GOC. The points listed in the above paragraph do not necessarily indicate that there is no plot in any way like the one described by Subject, but the facts that Subject's knowledge of the plotting is so indefinite and that he is currently removed from the group make it impossible to determine from testing Subject exactly what the current situation concerning Iden B and his followers might be. Subject did admit that he assassinated Iden E in 1948. The possibility was mentioned by AMOT/20 but had not been previously mentioned by Subject. Subject admitted being imprisoned in Costa Rica for six months in 1956-7, a fact he did not mention to WATTS when being debriefed on this period. As traces indicated, he was arrested along with Iden F and Iden G on suspicion of conspiring against Iden H.
