he may have been apprehended for questioning during that time. He denied any actual confinement other than immediately after the Bay of Pigs invasion in April 1961. This point was specifically brought out in his interrogation and subsequent LCFLUTTER examination in view of the statements made by Raul ROS Gonzalez (see paragraph 3.B. of WAVE-4580, 17 September 1963) to AMOT-133. Subject, although he may have made this statement in a moment of boastfulness, denied it and said ROS probably misunderstood him.

## Travel Outside Cuba:

12. In 1948 Subject went to Mexico City allegedly to attend the Polytechnic Institute. During the short time he was there he was one of the participants in the successful assassination of the 2nd Chief of the Cuban Secret Police, Rogelio "Cucu" HERNANDEZ Vega, that took place in the Cuban Embassy in Mexico City.

13. In 1949 and 1950 Subject was in the United States as a tourist (exact dates unknown). He said he lived in a furnished room at 145 West 84th Street, New York City, during that period and visited with his friends Carlos*ROLOFF and Mario*LEON. Both were employees of the Cuban Consulate in New York City at the time.

14. In 1956, after spending three months as an asylee in the Costa Rican Embassy in Havana, Subject was exiled to Costa Rica. His companions in asylum and exile were Efigenio AMEIJEIRAS Delgado, Leonel*GOMEZ Perez, Alberto*GRANA, and Rolando*CABEZAS. Soon after his arrival in Costa Rica Subject became involved in a plot to kidnap Costa Rican President Jose FIGUERES (see paragraph 6 above for details).

15. After a six-month prison term in Costa Rica, 1956 to 1957. Subject went to Panama and travelled extensively to other Central and South American countries as a procurer of arms and ammunition in the name of the 26th of July Movement and the Cuban Revolution. He returned to Cuba in early January 1959. (See paragraph 7 above.)

## Relationship with Efigenio AMEIJEIRAS Delgado, et al.

16. As reported in WAVE-5393, 4 October 1963, and confirmed in the second LCFLUTTER, 19 October 1963, Subject stated that Efigenio AMEIJEIRAS Delgado is in fact the leader of an anti-Communist element that consists principally of a group of Cuban Army majors. Subject's description of a specific plot by AMEIJEIRAS and his followers to assassinate AMTHUG/1 and establish an anti-Communist government was somewhat watered down by Subject in the interview immediately preceding the first LCFLUTTER examination on 10 October 1963 (see WAVE-5723, dated 11 October 1963).

17. The fact that Subject admitted having no first-hand knowledge of AMEIJEIRAS' actual plans for AMTHUG/1's assassination and the establishment of an anti-Communist government, the possibility that such a plan does exist proved to be only speculation on the part of Subject. He based his conclusions, which he initially related to his interrogator as positive plans (see WAVE-5393 dated 4 October 1963), on AMEIJEIRAS' activities which Subject surmised could only mean AMTHUG/1's demise and the subsequent establishment of an anti-Communist government that would not only exclude the existing Communist principals but also any BATISTA elements. The exclusion of the Communist principals, Subject added, actually meant their physical elimination or, in fact, their execution.
