This Central Intelligence Agency personality (201) dossier on Sandelio Herminio Diaz Garcia holds material dated from November 1956 to August 1975 and was approved for release in 2025. It contains 1966 intelligence cables on a 29 May 1966 exile infiltration attempt near Havana, in which Diaz was reported killed while trying to assassinate Fidel Castro. It also includes a report on cancelled assassination plans, 1973 traces linking a Herminio Diaz to narcotics trafficking, and FBI file listings. The dossier contains no UFO material.

SOURCE: A MEMBER OF THE RECE (REPRESENTATION CUBANA EN EL EXILIO) WHO ENJOYS A WIDE CIRCLE OF ACQUAINTANCES AMONG CUBAN EXILE ACTIVISTS IN MIAMI. SOURCE HAS SUBMITTED RELIABLE INFORMATION ON ACTIVIST ACTIVITIES IN THE PAST.

1. (FIELD COMMENT: ON 30 MAY 1966 AT 1105 HOURS GMT THE DOMESTIC SERVICE OF HAVANA RADIO BRAODCAST THE FOLLOWING COMMUNIQUE FROM THE GENERAL STAFF OF THE CUBAN ARMED FORCES: AT 2315 HOURS ANTI-AIRCRAFT PERSONNEL ON THE CUBAN COAST WEST OF HAVANA DISCOVERED A PIRATE BOAT WHILE IT WAS ATTEMPTING TO LAND 2 INFILTRATORS.
