This is a compilation of Department of State Bureau of Intelligence and Research (INR) briefing notes to the Director of INR, mostly dated June 12, 1968, with some from June 6, 1968. The notes cover world events, including student riots in Paris, East German passport and visa rules for West Germans, a UN resolution on South West Africa, a change of Komsomol leadership, Sino-Nepalese relations, and the Colombian presidential resignation crisis. Unrest in Senegal and Somalia is also covered. None of the notes discuss UFOs.

CLASS./CONTROL(S) The Pakistani Finance Minister has announced to the National Assembly a Defense Budget for the year beginning July 1 of $530 Million, up 10% over the current year's $485 Million. The Finance Minister stated that India Failed to respond to a cut in Pakistani Defense Spending last year. INR/RNA Comment: India earlier this year announced an increase in defense spending of under 5%; however, the Indians have acquired substantial quantities of military equipment in the past year, and Pakistan may be forced to spend a considerable amount of hard currency to purchase tanks and planes.
