It lists upcoming declassification panel meetings and deadlines. It also describes a Princeton University conference on CIA analysis of the Soviet Union, for which over 19,000 pages were released. Other items cover FOIA requests, including a British requester who wanted the 1951 D.S.I./J.T.I.C. Report No. 7 on Unidentified Flying Objects, plus a 1949 study on CIA and IAC cooperation.

Overview 0fIRR Activities Last Week: (U//7fi~UQ-)_Princeton Conference (U//MUG) OIM and CS1 Host a Cold War Conference with Princeton University (U/#5-U0.) The Office of Infonnation Management (OIM) played a major role in a conference held at Princeton University on 9 and 10 March 2001, titled “CIA’s Analysis of the Soviet Union, 1947-1991.” OIM officers originated the idea for holding the conference, drafted the agenda, declassified a major collection of documents specifically for it, produced-- with the help of the Center for the Study of Intelligence (CSI) -- a conference volume, produced a CD collection of declassified documents for the conference participants, and played a major role in the press briefing that preceded the conference. Over 19,000 pages of DI analytic papers were reviewed and released for the conference, and an additional 62,000 pages of DI documents—declassified under the Agency’s voluntary declassification program, under FOIA, and by CIA’s 25-year program-were assembled for the conference. The documents provided a representative sample of the DI’s economic, political, military, and scientific and technical analysis during the Cold War. DCI George Tenet, DDCI John McLaughlin, former DCI James Schlesinger, and Dr. Brzezhinski, National Security Advisor to President Jimmy Carter, addressed the conference. Many former, as well as current, Agency employees attended the conference, and it was covered by a host of joumalists and other media representatives. The “Princeton Collection” will be released to NARA and the DI documents specifically declassified for the conference soon will be available on the Internet at the Agency’s Website, www.foia.ucia.gov.
