This is the Central Intelligence Agency Office of Current Intelligence's Current Intelligence Weekly Summary for 9 November 1962, a secret periodical of intelligence appraisals. Much of it covers the Cuban missile crisis: Soviet missile equipment being loaded onto ships in Cuban ports, IL-28 bombers still in Cuba, and Khrushchev's moves to hold together Soviet bloc support. Other sections cover the Sino-Indian border conflict, Laos, Yemen, the Congo, European elections and Ne Win's Burma. It contains no UFO material.

warfare involving Saudi Arabia
and Jordan against the UAR and
revolutionist forces in Yemen
probably would expose the Saudi
and Jordanian governments to
increased domestic unrest and
possibly to subversion. Segments
of the populace in each country,
including elements in both
armies, already oppose the
assistance which their rulers
have given the Yemeni royalists.
The Egyptians’ decision to
extend their air strikes into
Saudi territory probably reflects
Cairo's concern over the inability
of the revolutionary government
to establish firm control of

ave been attempting to get a
major campaign under way in north-
western Yemen, and have had
limited success near the towns
of Harad and Sadah. The royal-
ists control a band of territory
stretching from the Saudi border
south of Najran through the
to Harib near the Aden Protec-
torate border.
The Egyptian supply and
troop buildup in Yemen continues,
however, and it appears unlikely
that the royalists will be able
to penetrate very deeply into
republican-held territory, which
includes most of the population
centers. Egypt has in Yemen a
ground force of some 5,000-6,000.
Egyptian air personnel total
about 500, and naval personnel
on the three destroyers and one
minesweeper in Yemeni waters
probably number about 800. The
Egyptian and revolutionary forces
have the advantage of air support
air strikes, including some by
TU-16 (Badger) jet bombers op-
erating out of Egypt, continue
to be conducted regularly against
the royalists' positions.
Following the renewal
last month of the Soviet-
Yemeni aid agreement, a number
of Soviet technicians, including
port and airfield specialists,
Wadi al Jawf area and Marib
have begun to arrive in Yemen.
