This Central Intelligence Agency file, dated 29 September 1975, collects Office of Security memoranda written while the Senate Select Committee was investigating the Agency. Staff were told to alert former employees about possible committee contact over Project MERRIMAC/RESISTANCE, and the file answers committee questions about Hayes International and Bay of Pigs pilots. It also records staff interviews about CIA name checks at NSA and a Justice Department request for records on domestic electronic surveillance. It contains no material on UFOs.

This disclosure occurred between CIA and HS between November 1957
and April 1972. There is no evidence that any of these disclosures were
made based upon Written authorization. Written autfw-cwsization has been
required by regulation during all relevant periods.
The requests for the information were made in two categories of cases:

These criteria were contained in a memorandum dated June 17, 1975
from Charles W. Kane, Director oi Security, CIA, to the IRS. ‘
There is no documentation in IRS files that the CIA. gave the specific
reason for their requests at the time the requests were made, since any
such requests were apparently oral. -
In most of these requests, tixere is no documentation as to any discussions
which may have transpired between any specific IRS employee and the CIA.
These requests were apparently made through a liaison. relationship which
existed between the IRS and CIA.
