MEMGRANDUM FOR THE RECORD
SUBJECT: Edmund X. Klipe
(Telephonic Contact on 6 October 1975)
l. On 6 October 1975 I telephonically contacted
Mr. Edmund X. Klipa, former Office of Security employee, to
alert him to the possibility that he would be contacted by
a staff member of the Senate Select Committee. Specifically,
I advised Mr. Klipa that Mr. Burton Wides of the Senate Select
Committee had indicated an interest in talking to him concerning
Projects MERRIMAC/RESISTANCE. In all probability this pertains
to activities while Mr. Klipa was assigned to the Washington
Field Office as the Special Agent in Charge.
2. I advised Mr. Klipa that it was a policy of the Agency
to contact former employees as a matter of courtesy and to
indicate to them if they had any concern regarding legal
considerations they could consult with Mr. George Clarke, Office
of General Counsel. I mentioned to Mr. Klipa the possibility
that the Agency could look into the possibility of free counsel
if Mr. Klipa was interested in counsel. I advised Mr. Klipa
that he was released from his signed Secrecy Agreement for
purpose of this possible interview. I outlined the guidelines
relating to the release from his Secrecy Agreement.
3. Mr. Klipa was very appreciative and expressed no
interest in talking to the Office of General Counsel.
