This Central Intelligence Agency file, dated 29 September 1975, collects Office of Security memoranda written while the Senate Select Committee was investigating the Agency. Staff were told to alert former employees about possible committee contact over Project MERRIMAC/RESISTANCE, and the file answers committee questions about Hayes International and Bay of Pigs pilots. It also records staff interviews about CIA name checks at NSA and a Justice Department request for records on domestic electronic surveillance. It contains no material on UFOs.

1 ' ( Q I: l l M . V, . ._ Commercial Contracts _ - _~ .- ‘ ’ Certain of Hughes’ enterprises have had contract arrange- ments with CIA since about 1950. The Hughes Aircraft I ' ;,,1 . 1 .1 Corporation, for example, has averaged over a million dollars ' . \1 1 per year in business dealings with the Agency since at least 1953. During the period 1970-1975, Hughes Aircraft was awarded some 53 contracts concerned with external analysis support and with research, design and development. Some of the tasks have included analysis of Soviet Air Defense Systems; studies‘ . . . , _ on microwave transistors, radar signatures, and laser com- munications; updating a collection site; designing a telemetry analysis display system; and a few other sensitive projects. At present 19 of the 53 contracts are active; work on the other 34 has been completed. The 53 contracts represent a total of some 8.06 million dollars.
