This Central Intelligence Agency file, dated 29 September 1975, collects Office of Security memoranda written while the Senate Select Committee was investigating the Agency. Staff were told to alert former employees about possible committee contact over Project MERRIMAC/RESISTANCE, and the file answers committee questions about Hayes International and Bay of Pigs pilots. It also records staff interviews about CIA name checks at NSA and a Justice Department request for records on domestic electronic surveillance. It contains no material on UFOs.

In the referenced memorandum Mr. Dietel asked for a judgment concerning sanitization for passage to the Department of Justice of the typed indexes of files related to ITT that were in our possession on l January T976. (These files are part of our Watergate investigation holdings.) The indexes (see Attachment B) list and, to some extent, describe documents belonging to a number of CIA components. The majority, however, were originated in the DD/O. 1 4 2. Please review Attachment B for the purpose of sanitizing the listings of documents controlled by your component. we suggest that you contact Mr. Dietel (Red 9336) for guidelines on sanitization. The indexes are to be passed to Justice in classified form. 3. As noted in Reference, OGC has set a 23 March T976 deadline for passing this material to Justice.
