This Central Intelligence Agency file, dated 29 September 1975, collects Office of Security memoranda written while the Senate Select Committee was investigating the Agency. Staff were told to alert former employees about possible committee contact over Project MERRIMAC/RESISTANCE, and the file answers committee questions about Hayes International and Bay of Pigs pilots. It also records staff interviews about CIA name checks at NSA and a Justice Department request for records on domestic electronic surveillance. It contains no material on UFOs.

3. Further, the judgment as to what information must remain classified
must satisfy the classification criteria currently applicable. For that information
that must remain classified the Agency must specifically set forth to the
Department the facts on which the Agency's position is based. In summary then,
we must declassify all information with the exception of that which absolutely
and positively must remain classified, pursuant to the classification standards.
4. No one other than the members of this task force should be apprised
of the purposes of or activities of the task force without prior coordination with
the Acting General Counsel or Assistant General Counsels Clarke or Dietel.
