This Central Intelligence Agency file, dated 29 September 1975, collects Office of Security memoranda written while the Senate Select Committee was investigating the Agency. Staff were told to alert former employees about possible committee contact over Project MERRIMAC/RESISTANCE, and the file answers committee questions about Hayes International and Bay of Pigs pilots. It also records staff interviews about CIA name checks at NSA and a Justice Department request for records on domestic electronic surveillance. It contains no material on UFOs.

MEMORANDUM FOR: Members, Declassification Task Force
SUBJECT : Department of Justice Request for Declassification of
Documents -
l. . The Department of Justice has requested that the Agency review the
168 items listed in the attachment for declassification. It may be that some of
the documents included in the 168 items are unclassified or may now be
declassified. It may be that some may be declassified by the removal of
certain names or other classified information. And it may be that some of the
documents must remain classified in their entirety. ‘
2 . The judgment as to Whether information remains classified must be
made against what the Government has officially placed in the public domain.
In this regard the following publications are relevant: A
