This Central Intelligence Agency file, dated 29 September 1975, collects Office of Security memoranda written while the Senate Select Committee was investigating the Agency. Staff were told to alert former employees about possible committee contact over Project MERRIMAC/RESISTANCE, and the file answers committee questions about Hayes International and Bay of Pigs pilots. It also records staff interviews about CIA name checks at NSA and a Justice Department request for records on domestic electronic surveillance. It contains no material on UFOs.

I I 4 I \ f I i I \ I 1 2 July 1915 MEMORANDUM FOR: Director of Security SUBJECT : Internal Revenue Service Interview of Former Office of Security Employee 1. Special Agent Rourke of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) contacted Mr. Edward Stewart in San Francisco on Saturday afternoon, 28 June 1975. Mr. Stewart had been advised by the Chief of Operations (PSI) to anticipate this visit byAgent Rourke and to protect any classified information, as well as cover when he was talking to Agent Rourke. He was further advised that none of our people's names except McCahe and Geraty had been mentioned and it was suggested to Mr. Stewart that he not mention any others if he could avoid it. He was also advised that Agent Rourke had been given the name of Mr. Leonard as an IRS employee who had provided IRS information. 2. On 1 July 1975 the Special Agent in Charge of the San Francisco Field Office, Mr. Walt Richardson, advised that he had had e lengthy discussion with Mr. Stewart this date and outlined the following information about the interview conducted by Agent Rourke and his fellow female agent on Saturday, 28 June. After placing Mr. Stewart under oath, the Special Agents consumed about 5 minutes discussing the infor- mation provided to Mr. Stewart by Mr. Leonard and he asked how it was done and why it wasn't done through the established fomal process. Mr. Stewart reportedly told him that he was an investigator in the field and he had simply set up the contact with Mr. Leonard and was provided the information byshowing his official identification. Mr. Stewart told Agent Rourke that he was not aware of any formal process for requesting this information and he thought that maybe Mr. Leonard was not aware either. IE=€,?L_.|:\/< PDET c |_
